Struggling to get a start in catering offshore?

  1. Find a company that operates both on and offshore and has a contract in your local area (maybe a school or an airport catering contract).
  2. Apply for a job with that specific contract. DO NOT LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE INTERESTED IN OFFSHORE OR HAVE ANY OFFSHORE CERTIFICATES!
  3. Once you are successful getting work with them you could wait a few months and then ask if transferring offshore is possible.
  4. If you don't get the answers you are looking for from your line or contract manager then human resources (HR) should point you in the right direction to get a step forward towards offshore.
  5. Be persistent. This is your career, not anyone else's!  If you hear "No chance" try another approach through the company.
  6. Work your socks off and shine as a great little worker. A good recommendation from your line and contract manager will be imperative to your success.
We are not offering any guarantees for success using this method but... if you have the correct attitude and determination to succeed then there is absolutely no reason why this method should not work for ambitious individuals.
